CleanPlanet Day, N Kingstown, Rhode Island (December): Family Cleanup

It was a crisp, chilly day at the end of December – but cold fingers couldn’t hold us back from our trash cleanup alongside Rt. 1. This being one of the busiest roads in town, it sadly accumulates trash at the entrance to the woods. Mom and Dad walk in this area often, and most days end up picking up pieces of trash.

Mom was there as our driver and moral support, as Dad and I picked up an awful lot of trash from the edge of the woods. Thorns made picking up some pieces tricky, but we managed to clean most of what we could see… mostly bottles, cans, and plastic. My hands were numb by the time we had filled a tall trash bag, but I was thrilled to have both Mom and Dad’s collaboration on a CleanPlanet Day tradition that we normally don’t get to do together.
